Luang Pu Sodh Candasaro
With regards to devotees aspiring to take rebirth in a good family, Luang Pu Sodh mentioned, “What class of human beings do we want to be? We have to take a look and improve ourselves.
When it is time to donate and give alms, observe the precepts, practice the Dhamma, we must practice proper manners. When we give alms, we must be gentle [and humble], pleasant to look at. Whoever sees us giving in this way, will also appreciate and admire.
If we have such good manners, it shall be a cause for rebirth in a noble family.
As for speech, no matter who we are addressing, elderly or clergymen, only speak gently in a graceful manner.
Words that are vulgar, rude, or impolite, do not use them. If you use them, it will become a habit that you’re stuck with. And you will become some uncivilized person.
As for the heart, you must also make it gentle and graceful. The heart must be soft, like a heart of merit is good fortune. The heart must not be interested in evil ways. The heart that sees wrongly, do not take it to use.
The heart that is agreeable, with right view, can be taken to use.
Birth in the future will be that of a noble human...”
