History Book of Luang Pu Thate Tetrangsri
This nagga, a student of Luangpoo Thate At Wat pa Huayrin, coming to Luangpoo Noy
Luang Pu Thate Tetrangsri once told his disciples, “Under the land of Nong Khai Province is an underground city.
Beneath Hin Mak Peng deep below there is a cave where the Nagas stay.
It is a huge cave which has links to Wat Phra Phutthabat Don Kaeo which possesses the footprint of the Buddha. The hollows of these caves are found throughout the territory of the Naga city.”
On auspicious days, such as Buddhist holy days, the good Nagas who guard and protect Wat Hin Mak Peng will come up from their underground dwelling to listen to the Dhamma of Luang Pu Thate Tetrangsri near the waterfront area around the three sacred stones.
Where Luang Pu Thate himself will preach to the serpents, and where he himself said that he had gone to meet them several times.
At Wat Hin Mak Peng, there used to be Naga fireballs appearing around the end of Pansa period, and the locals believe that it is the fire released by the serpents in worshipping the sacred objects of Wat Hin Mak Peng.
During the day of the cremation ceremony of Luang Pu Thate, disciples noticed several large pythons appearing near the attendees at the ceremonial grounds.
Different locals interpreted this sign differently, but some believe that those serpents are the representative of the Nagas who had faith to join the cremation ceremony of Luang Pu Thate. After the cremation ceremony was completed, the snakes had all disappeared.
