The meditation that you have done will be very valuable when you are about to die.
Even though we may experience many difficulties during meditation, the results will be worth it. It is worth it because for example, a person who dies may be reborn as an animal right away.
Whatever the case, it will be of great loss. Or we may not be able to encounter the Buddha Dhamma.
But if we all come together to practice meditation together. The chances of us being reborn as an animal or in the lower realms are very low. Or it might be possible to shut off the gates to hell completely.
Because when a person is about to die, it is the citta that will leave the body. When the citta is about to depart, it has to get everything ready and in order. The mind will be ready for anything that is about to happen.
The meditation that we have done ten times, hundreds of times, or how many times…The [experiences] all reside in our hearts. Therefore, when the mind leaves the body, all the concentration that is being gathered. There won’t be a problem. Everything will be smooth and ready.
Concentration that will take place…will ensure that we do not need to be reborn as an animal. We do not need to be reborn in abaiyaphum (apāyabhūmi: states of deprivation).
The path to the lower realms will be closed for sure. Why? Because we trained the mind. We can remember and not have heedlessness. How many times we sat in meditation. We also won’t forget.
Nothing can take this concentration away from the mind. Because it is already in the mind. We have done it. Since there is nothing that can take it away, we are able to close the path to the lower realms.
Therefore it is very worthwhile that people all over come together to practice and perform goodness…
