The teachings of Ajahn Suchart
Question from Florida, USA: Which part of our mind we are supposed to educate, to teach the Dhamma: is it saṅkhārā, viññāṇa, or the inner stillness in us?
Than Ajahn: You educate your saññā (perception), because you have wrong perception about things. You see things as permanent, as good for you and as things that you can control. But in fact, they are impermanent, they are bad for you and you can’t control them.
So, that’s why you have to keep contemplating on the Three Characteristics of Existence. It’s to re-educate your mind, to change your perception about things. Once you see everything as bad for you, then you’ll stop your craving for it. When you have no cravings, you enter nibbāna.
